Little Skating Divas

In The Blink of an Eye

My daughter just left for her first day of school as a senior in high school. I can’t help but feel a little sad to see her go.  I don’t feel old enough to be a mother of a senior but even more hard to believe is the fact that she isn’t my little baby any more! She will always be my baby of course, but those days of ice skating and ballet have been replaced with Roller Derby and boyfriends! I can’t help but wish at times to rewind the clock and get a few more moments of that goofy 6 year old back.

It will be one more short school year until she is leaving for college and I feel completely unprepared for it. I’m sure that this is a common feeling among all parents of a senior but I don’t want to let her go. She is my baby and my best friend. I have done everything I can to prepare her for life and I know that she is a smart kid and that she can accomplish anything that she puts her mind to, she is just like her mom and she is feisty and opinionated lol.

I guess all that I can do is enjoy this year as much as I can and not let the hustle and bustle of work and home keep me from spending as much time as she will allow me to spend with her. I’m lucky that my child sees me as a cool person to hang out with and we really do have a great relationship. I also lucked out with the sweetest daughter on the planet!

So here is to my daughter! I hope you have a wonderful first day of school and even better senior year of high school!

    1. I’m sure it won’t. I still don’t know how I will react to college lol. I am so not ready for that. She is my only baby so it will be empty nest soon!!
