Getting in Shape

Week 2 – In Review

This past week went pretty well. I stayed consistent in some areas but still need a lot of work in others. I went down .4 lbs which is still a lose and I will gladly take it. I was also voted a Spark People motivator! Yay! by my fellow Spark members and I can’t tell you how much that meant to me. It is such an honor to know that others think that you inspire them. If I motivate others, than I need to motivate myself as well. I have really struggled lately to get myself back to the routine I had before, but I know I will get there. I just have to use where I was as inspiration but not as pressure that I have failed because I let myself slide back to where I am.

I am starting to track everything I eat, which can be a challenge at first. This is one thing I tell people is key to eating better and losing weight. You don’t realize how many calories you are consuming until you start tracking it, the horror at how many calories are in my favorite cookies & cream milkshake!! There are a lot of wonderful apps out there that help you stay on track, I use the SparkPeople Diet & Food Tracker app, it lets me track food, exercise, water consumption and even my weight within the app plus a whole lot more. Some other great tracking apps are My Fitness Pal, Calorie Tracker – Livestrong, and Tap & Track just to name a few. I can be a bit app obsessed and usually download a few apps of each type so that I can try them all and see which really works better for me. I love the SparkPeople website so the fact that the app updates my info on the site makes it work perfectly for me. I definitely love the social features that you get with the My Fitness Pal and wish that SparkPeople would add that to theirs.

I am in desperate need to get my sleeping patterns in check. I am doing all of the wrong things and I know what I need to do but can’t seen to make myself do it. I keep staying up till 2 and 3 in the morning, while at the same time having the desire to get up early and get things done. Not a very good plan!! Plus I have never been much of a coffee drinker but I have discovered that I love Starbucks White Chocolate Mocha and I seem to crave them after work which the caffeine keeps me up all night lol.

  1. Thank you for your insight on the weight loss apps. I’m def going to purchasing one to help me lose all this weight. You are doing such a good job! Keep up the good work!

    1. Thank you! Having apps definitely makes your life easier. I also like to use RunKeeper to track my walking and running miles. It gets kind of addicting though lol. Ahhh its only a couple buck…… 40 apps later lol.

  2. I agree with the not a diet, it’s a lifestyle. That was the biggest change I had to get used to. Healthy living is a way of life, not a diet. It has to be everyday, consistent and a habit. Good luck on the weight loss. I am still struggling to get back into a routine after my surgery. But, I am not going to let it get me down I have lost almost 50 lbs so far and I have too many left to go! Thanks for encouraging others too.

    1. Congratulations on the weight loss. It is definitely a journey. I made it once before and I will make it again! I was down to 175 by the time of my first surgery and it has be a stuggle to regain that again… but I know I will get there.
